What is and why Mediterranean?
Mediterranean diet is very simple; it is eating habit based on typical Mediterranean-style food.
However, it might be a lot easier to follow what kind of ingredients are included in Mediterranean diet and here is the pyramid for it.

To understand about the Mediterranean diet, basically you can emphasize it as below
1. Eating primarily plant-based foods, such as fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes and nuts
2. Replacing butter with healthy fats, such as olive oil
3. Using herbs and spices instead of salt to flavor foods
4. Limiting red meat to no more than a few times a month
5. Eating fish and poultry at least twice a week
6. Drinking red wine in moderation (optional)

I choose to try Mediterranean diet because it I have been always interested in Mediterranean culture and it was not too strict about having meats and poultry so I thought it would be a good start for me.

How did you do in 3 days and how was it?
Here I made a chart for 3 days how I followed for Mediterranean diet.
For 3 days, I have never used salt and tried to get flavors by using olive oils and natural ingredients to follow the Mediterranean diet.
Not only the dietary habit, Mediterranean diet also recommends daily exercise so I signed up at Goodlife fitness to workout everyday.

After the day 1
Actually my stomach felt very light and comfortable, I think greek yogurt helped my digesting and having a meal based on vegetables and grain felt less portion than consuming meat.
After the day 2
Because I never when to fitness center to exercise, I had some muscle pains after working out so I just decided to buy food to eat instead of cooking this time.
I went to Freshii because they had a Mediterranean Bowl with Tofu and I actually wanted to try the taste of Mediterranean food. (Even it is not a traditional cuisine)
Finally, after the day 3
It was kind of challenging to not having rice for 2 days to me because I am very used to with eating rice everyday.
Also I was not actually prepared to cook various Mediterranean food to follow their diet so I have to eat same dinner from day 1.

How to make Mediterranean Pasta?
I made my own recipe after studying Mediterranean foods from internet and tried to avoid to used salt and meats.
I used tofu instead of meats and used canned artichokes, sundried tomatoes, and feta cheese to have Mediterranean flavor in my pasta and here is the recipe for it.

How would you maintain Mediterranean diet?
First of all, you need to study if you are trying to start certain diet.
Not just of the concept of it, it requires what kind of food to consume daily so you don’t repeat consuming the same food everyday.
Also I found out that not salt is not necessary for the most of the Mediterranean diet because olives and artichokes are already salty enough for the food.
Not only that, since Mediterranean diet only consume the meat less often so you need to know how to substitute the meat nutrient from consuming other foods.

My thoughts?
Personally, I would not continue the Mediterranean diet because of my cultural background.
This dietary habit is very different than normal Korean meals which makes very difficult for me.
Maybe I can use the Mediterranean food guide and try to make Asian cuisine, so I can actually enjoy the food and follow their food guide.
Thank you for visiting my blog again guys and see you until the new post.
